Audience: These workshops are for parents, educators, service providers and especially transition-aged students with disabilities!  Sessions will include information about incorporating skills into the transition IEP.

All SESSIONS WILL BE HELD AT:
Wauwatosa District Offices: Conference Room A

SESSION 1: CAREER EXPLORATION
Thursday, September25, 2008 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Participants will hear about all types of careers & career choices, participate in activities designed to explore career options, & hear from a panel of experts on career exploration.

SESSION 2: WHAT TO EXPECT IN COLLEGE
Thursday, October 16, 2008 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Participants will learn differences between colleges, universities & technical schools & discuss which type might be right for them.  Local college representatives will discuss how to get accommodations in college & how to apply for financial aid.  Youth with disabilities will share their college experiences.

SESSION 3: INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS
Thursday November 6, 2008 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Everyone needs to learn certain skills & information when moving out on their own for the first time.  Staff from IndependenceFirst will talk about independent living skills, consumer protection, peer support, self-advocacy, voting.
