February 17, 2009 is spring primary Election Day for non-partisan offices.  Only offices that are not associated with a political party will be decided.

You are probably thinking, “Didn’t we just have an election?”  Indeed we did last November, but elections never seem to take a season off.

Tomorrow’s election will narrow the field of candidates for the spring election on Tuesday, April 7, 2009.  The only statewide election tomorrow is for the position of State Superintendent of Public Instruction (DPI).

This position plays a key role in many issues related to special education.  Five people are running for the open position, as the current Superintendent, Elizabeth Burmaster, is not running.  To learn more about the candidates go to <http://www.wisconsinvote.org/>.

Besides the DPI position there are many local offices that will have a primary election tomorrow.  Offices like mayor, county executive, and county district attorney may be on your ballot.  Because so few people are expected to vote in this election, those that do vote can make a big difference.
