DAWN Election Action Grants
The Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities (WI-BPDD), in partnership with the Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition, announces the availability of DAWN Election Action Grants. These grants are intended for non-partisan election-related activities to be carried out by individuals with disabilities, their family members and those who work with them. [Grant application.]
Non-partisan election activities may include, but not be limited to, the following:
- A non-partisan voter guide listing candidates’ positions on disability-related issues.
- A non-partisan candidates’ forum to educate voters about the positions of candidates concerning disability issues.
- A get-out-the-vote project designed to increase voter turnout for individuals with disabilities, their family members or those who work with them.
Individuals eligible for the grants are:
- People with disabilities who are working with a local advocacy group
- Family members of people with disabilities who are working with a local advocacy group
- Local or statewide consumer-led grassroots advocacy organizations where people with disabilities and/or family members are a majority of the membership
- Other organizations that will work to get individuals with disabilities involved with the electoral process.
Grants for up to $500 are available. Grant applications must be received by the WI-BPDD no later than 4:00 p.m. on, Friday, October 1, 2010. Grant applications can be submitted via hard copy or email. Hard copies should be mailed to:
