Steps After the Rally
Keep in contact with your Legislators. Invite them to meet with you when they are in their home districts. Call, write, fax and e-mail to let them know about your needs an the "People Can't Wait" Campaign.
Set up a meeting of local advocates and ask your Legislators to come and meet with you.
Write a letter to the editor of your local paper or contact your local newspaper/TV station and tell them about the "People can't Wait" Campaign.
Attend the Joint Finance Committee meeting when it votes on the "People Can't Wait" items. Seeing people with disabilities and their supporters in the audience helps in gaining legislative support. Wear buttons or t-shirts that clearly identify support for the "People Can't Wait" campaign.
Write a thank you to Legislators or their staff who met with you. Invite them to your home. Keep in contact with them.
Write a letter to Legislators who could not meet with you reminding them of your issues
Write a letter to the editor of your local paper or contact your local newspaper/TV station and tell them your story and about the "People Can't Wait" Campaign.
