Register Now for Disability Advocacy Day
Meet with Your Legislators and Advocate for Disability Issues!
Registration is now open for Disability Advocacy Day.
The Survival Coalition of Wisconsin Disability Organizations is hosting Disability Advocacy Day in Madison on Wednesday, Mar. 20, 2013. Disability Advocacy Day connects you with your legislators so you can share your story and tell them what issues are important to you. Please participate in this event and make your voice heard about disability issues!
People who participate in Disability Advocacy Day will have the opportunity to attend a briefing at the Madison Concourse Hotel about current disability issues (11 a.m. – 12 p.m.) before marching to the Capitol for the Disability Advocacy Day Rally (12:30 – 1 p.m.). After the rally, participants will meet with their legislators (1 – 4 p.m.) to discuss the issues that are important to them. The Survival Coalition will schedule all legislative visits for participants. After the visits, participants can debrief with Survival Coalition staff about their visits and discuss next steps to stay in touch with their legislators.
Check in for the event begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Madison Concourse Hotel. At check in, participants will receive their blue Disability Advocacy Day t-shirt. More information about the event, including information about lunches, parking, and transportation, is available in the event flyer.
Also, from 4 – 6 p.m., the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities will be celebrating its 40th anniversary at the Madison Concourse Hotel. Disability Advocacy Day participants are invited to attend the celebration and meet with other advocates from around the state.
You can register online or by submitting a completed registration form. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Mar. 13. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with more details about the event.
