Last fall, BPDD conducted the Mosaic Art Contest, an art contest for self-advocates who live in Wisconsin and want to express what self-determination and/or self-advocacy means to them through their art. Artwork was accepted in three categories: 2D visual art (painting, drawing, etc.), photography, and poetry. 2012 was the first year of the contest and BPDD received almost 50 entries from all over the state.
BPDD Board members judged the 2D visual and photography entries and a small panel judged the poetry entries. Each category recognized three award winners and awards were presented at the 2012 Wisconsin Self-Determination Conference (2012 award winners – with links to their art – are listed below). All participants received a certificate of participation and all entries are featured on BPDD’s Facebook page. Check out the artwork entries for 2D visual, photography, and poetry.
The Mosaic Art Contest will be conducted again in 2013 and the contest will officially be launched through DAWN early this summer. Become a member of DAWN and be the first to know about Mosaic!
