Attend Two-Day Training in Milwaukee or Appleton

Community Supported Living is growing throughout Wisconsin as a flexible partnership between any person with a disability needing support to live in their own home and an entity providing individualized assistance.

The 2012 Community Supported Living Learning Series is a two-day training for individuals with support needs, families, service providers, MCOs, IRIS staff, and county Legacy Waiver Programs interested in learning how Community Supported Living assists people to live in their own homes. Participants will leave the event with practical skills that enhance their ability to create Community Supported Living in their communities.

The series consists of two separate two-day learning events: one two-day session in Milwaukee and another in Appleton (details below). Each series – Milwaukee and Appleton – will cover the same information, so there is no need to attend both. There is a one-month gap between the first and second meeting in each series, which is designed to allow participants time to work with the information they learned during the first meeting. Participants must commit to attending both days of the series.

During the first day, participants will learn how Community Supported Living can work in Wisconsin. Between meetings, participants will explore options and strategies in their own communities before returning for the final training day. During the final day, participants will explore next steps to developing Community Supported Living in their community. After the event, follow-up assistance from InControl Wisconsin will be available.

More information is available in the event brochure.

The registration fee is $30 and covers meals and training materials for both days of the series. You can register online or by completing the Registration Form in the brochure.

These events are sponsored by the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities and InControl Wisconsin.
