Your advocacy is needed to help students with disabilities in Wisconsin!

The Joint Finance Committee (JFC) has completed their formal public hearings and is now making final decisions about the next state budget. One of the items included in the budget is funding for special needs vouchers.

The disability and public school communities have concerns about special needs vouchers. Special needs vouchers could negatively affect students with disabilities and drain critical resources from Wisconsin school districts. Families lose all their federal protections when they leave public schools, and private schools are not accountable for student outcomes.

If this issue is important to you, contact members of the Joint Finance Committee now! Call or email the 16 committee members and ask them to do the right thing for students with disabilities in Wisconsin.

If you know someone else who is concerned about this issue, please forward this message to them and ask them to contact Joint Finance Committee members. Also, please share this message as much as possible, including on Facebook, Twitter, etc.

To learn more about special needs vouchers, check out this fact sheet.

Thank you in advance for taking action to improve the lives of students with disabilities in Wisconsin!

Public money should not pay for any private school! "Choice"/voucher schools are bad for Wisconsin. They are not accountable and do not produce better results for children. Special Education vouchers are even a worse idea. How will unqualified and uncertified teachers work with special education students? They won't and the children will end up back in public school. Restore funding to public education! I do not want my tax dollars paying for vouchers!
