BPDD Elects Officers for 2011-2012
Last week, the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities (BPDD) elected its officers for 2011-2012. Barbara Katz, from Madison, was elected to be the Board’s next Chairperson, succeeding Cindy Zellner-Ehlers (Baileys Harbor). In addition to Katz, John Donnelly, also from Madison, was elected to be the Vice-Chair. Four other officers were elected to serve on the Executive Committee: Kevin Fech (Cudahy), Robert Kuhr (Menasha), Jeff Spitzer-Resnick (Madison) and Zellner-Ehlers.
The Board recently completed the development of its next five-year State Plan, which begins implementation October 1, 2011. The Board’s State Plan for 2012-2016 will work to improve the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities in Wisconsin by focusing on the areas of self-determination, employment and advocacy. The current 2007-2011 State Plan will conclude on September 30, 2011. Katz is excited about the opportunity to lead the Board through this transition and beyond.
“I look forward to serving as Chairperson as the Board puts the finishing touches on the current State Plan. We are proud of our accomplishments in Wisconsin and we will continue to work to fulfill the Board's mission – to help people with developmental disabilities become independent, productive, and included in all facets of community life.”
