2012 Class of Partners in Policymaking Graduates
30 disability advocates from around the state graduated from Wisconsin Partners in Policymaking, a new leadership program from the BPDD.
Partners in Policymaking is an advocacy and systems change leadership program that prepares self-advocates and family members of people with disabilities to work on policies and initiatives that will support full participation and inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of life. It includes six sessions that cover topics such as employment, inclusive education, advocacy, disability policy, and systems change.
“Partners in Policymaking equips participants with the knowledge and tools to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities in Wisconsin,” said Beth Swedeen, executive director of the BPDD. “I am confident these graduates will continue to be strong disability advocates, both as a group and as individuals.”
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2013 program and the deadline to apply is September 1, 2012. To learn more, visit the Partners in Policymaking page.
