The Big Picture: Advocacy Season

Public policy efforts, both at the state and federal levels, have been a primary focus for BPDD during the past two months. We have been working hard so people with disabilities in Wisconsin have a seat at the table when important policy decisions that affect them are being made.

Employment First Ramping Up in Wisconsin

Madeleine Will, current Vice-President of Public Policy for the National Down Syndrome Society, participated in a two-day event that focused on expanding community employment options for people with disabilities in Wisconsin. Also, a statewide Employment First conference has been scheduled for 2014.

Contact Your State Legislator About the State Budget

Contact your legislators and ask them to support individuals with disabilities.  Your legislators represent you, so tell them about the issues that are important to you. Remind them that they received the 2013 Priorities for People with Disabilities in Wisconsin papers and urge them to use this information to work with the JFC members to improve the lives of people with disabilities in Wisconsin.
