BPDD provides many opportunities for people with disabilities, their family members, and professionals to improve the lives of people with disabilities in Wisconsin. Featured events and opportunities include Wisconsin Partners in Policymaking, the Mosaic Art Contest, and more.
In this video about BPDD’s Partners in Policymaking training program, Partners graduate Lisa Helms states, “I can be a person that somebody looks up to. I can make change in the world instead of just receive the change in the world.” Lisa’s quote encapsulates what Partners is all about.
The old saying is “There is no ‘I’ in team.” That’s especially true when looking at how much BPDD can accomplish and how people with disabilities, their families, and allies benefit when we collaborate.
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month and BPDD will once again conduct the Take Your Legislator to Work Campaign. Through the campaign, Wisconsin workers with disabilities who love their jobs get to show their legislator the importance of working in the community at competitive wages.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to connect with people with disabilities, families, provider organizations, and businesses in a collaborative effort to increase the number of people with disabilities who have integrated, competitive-wage jobs in Wisconsin. The deadline to register is Monday, Aug. 20.
To help make the Take Your Legislator to Work Campaign a success, the BPDD is recruiting Regional Coordinators. Stipends are available.
Early Bird registration is now open for 2012 Wisconsin Self-Determination Conference. Register by Sept. 14, 2012 and take advantage of the discounted Early Bird rates!
